Writing Prizes 2008

The Department of English is sponsoring the annual competition for:

  • The Donaldson Prize for Fiction
  • The Donaldson Prize for a Personal Essay
  • The Donaldson Prize for a Critical Essay
  • The Donaldson Prize for Translation
  • The Vonna Hicks Adrian Prize for Poetry
  • The Vonna Hicks Adrian Prize for a Critical Essay on Poetry
  • The Ralph L. Kinsey Poetry Award
  • The Academy of American Poets Award for Poetry

Each winner will recieve a CASH PRIZE

Submit work in person to Kathie Clyde in Kauke 213

THE DEADLINE IS 4:00 P.M. MONDAY, MARCH 31

Each submission must include the writer’s name, e-mail address, campus box number, and the category in which the writer wishes the submission to be judged.

Students may submit no more than seven poems, twenty pages of fiction, two critical essays, and twenty pages of personal essay (creative non-fiction). For translation, the same maximum limits as to genre should be observed.

Installment 4: Senior IS Presentations Group 2

Join us as fiction and critical projects alike thrill us! Hannah Legris and Jack Boyle will be the first of our senior presenters to read from short fiction projects. We will also hear from Adam Lieberg as he presents his critical work. Come for free refreshments (as always) and great insight into the hard work our seniors have been doing!
